Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program for teachers, parents, and students. Every child in the community celebrates reading on March 2. This day is very special because it’s Dr. Seuss’ birthday!
To help celebrate Dr. Seuss’ 107th birthday head over to seussville.com and go exploring. This website is interactive and can be used as a whole class activity on your SMART Board. As a class, you can learn about Dr. Seuss and how he became a famous author. You can also go to http://pbskids.org/catinthehat/games/index.html to play some educational games that go along with the Dr. Seuss theme. However, do not forget to read some amazing stories to your class and check out readingrockets.org/calendar/readacross. You can find four videos from Dr. Seuss’ wife Audrey.
